How To Keep Your Army Combat Boots Looking Shipshape
For many of us, it isn’t an add thing to be told, “Your mother wears army combat boots”. In fact, it is quite a compliment, and an honor just knowing that our family members are serving our country in the military. But, you don’t necessarily have to be in the army to enjoy the benefits of wearing this type of footwear. In fact, there are all kinds of people who wear these boots every day, because they are comfortable and durable. If you have a good pair of these sturdy boots, you should be doing your best to take care of them so they will last for a long time.
Today’s army combat boots are not the stiff black leather from the old days. Instead, they are made from a roughed tan leather that requires a different type of care than the older styles. You can keep them in great shape and looking good by following these simple care and cleaning instructions:
• You need to wash the insoles. Remove them from the boots and rinse them with a mild detergent, then let them air dry. Insoles should be hand washed, and never put in a washing machine.
• Before cleaning the exterior of the boots, you will need to remove the laces. To clean the laces easily, tie them together and throw them in the washing machine with your regular load.
• Use a soft brush to get rid of the extra dirt on the leather and other fabric parts of the boots.
• Dip a clean cloth in warm water (do not use any detergents) to wash the outside of the boots.
• Once you have cleaned the boots completely, leave them where they can air dry over night. Once they are dry, you can put the insoles and laces back in.
• It is also a good idea to get a waterproofing spray for your army combat boots. This way, you will be able to wear them in all kinds of weather without worrying that they are going to become damaged in any way.
If you prefer the old black leather army boots, the care and cleaning is just a bit different. You will still clean the laces and insoles the same way, but you will clean the leather with a good quality shoe polish, then buff the boots to a beautiful shine with a soft cloth.
If you are looking for a good pair of army boots, you can find them at any army surplus store, and they are available at really good prices. The next time you need to get a quality pair of boots, think about getting a good pair of army combat boots.
